Authentication
Proving a user really is who they claim to be before letting them in.
Authentication is the bouncer checking your ID at the door — it answers 'who are you?' (distinct from authorization, which answers 'what are you allowed to do?'). The hard part isn't the login form; it's everything around it: password resets, email verification, rate-limiting brute-force attempts, and secure session handling. AI will happily scaffold a login page in seconds but quietly skip those pieces, so for anything real, wire up a dedicated auth provider instead of rolling your own.
